Summary
In 1935, Saint-Exupéry’s plane, which was attempting to break the flight record between Paris and Saigon, suffered a technical failure in the Sahara Desert and was forced to land there.
This incident became the subject of The Little Prince , in which the protagonist, an unnamed pilot, meets a little boy after landing in the desert. The boy tells the pilot that he comes from a distant asteroid and has lived there for so long that one day he decides to leave his homeland to explore other planets. He also tells the pilot about his beloved rose that he loves, tells him about other planets, and tells him about the fox that he met here on Earth. The pilot and the prince find a well that saves them from thirst. During the story, he encounters a snake with a mysterious tongue. In the end, the little prince decides to return to his asteroid.
